Signal Iduna Park (Westfalenstadion)

Signal Iduna Park, also known as BVB-Stadion during UEFA and FIFA matches, is a soccer stadium located in the city of Dortmund, Germany. This stadium is considered to be the largest in Germany, capable of holding an impressive 81359 spectators. It is the home arena for the local soccer club Borussia Dortmund.

The stadium was built between 1971 and 1974 in the run-up to the World Cup and was originally designed to accommodate 54,000 spectators. However, its capacity was later significantly increased. The first game played at the stadium was a friendly match between Borussia Dortmund and Schalke 04, which ended 0-3.

Since the 1974-1975 season, Borussia have used this stadium as their home arena. It has also served as an arena for various events, including the UEFA Cup final between Liverpool and Alaves in 2001, which was one of the most exciting finals in European Cup history, ending 5-4.

The stadium was also known as the Westfalenstadion until 2005 and remains an iconic sporting venue not only for Dortmund, but for the whole of Germany.
