The Scotland national football team is one of the oldest in the world. The Scots played their first official match on November 30, 1872, against the England national team. It ended with a score of 0:0. The team got to the World Cup for the first time only in 1954 in Switzerland but could not advance from the group round. The Scotland national team has participated in the World Cup eight times but never went beyond the group stage. The Scots took part in the European Championships three times. In the group stage of Euro 2024, the Scottish national team got into group A with Germany, Hungary, and Switzerland.
